Dessalines and The Revolution for Independence – 1803-1804

o The heroics of the rebels, especially Capois and the respect of the French
o The assistance given by the British to aid Dessalines
o The Declaration of Independence, the constitution, and the exclusion of Petion and other mulattos
o Haiti declares independence January 1, 1804
