Prince Jacques-Victor was lazy, overweight, and not prone to his studies. Concerned, the King assigned his trusted secretary, Pompée Valentin Vastey, a future Baron, as his tutor. Eventually, the baron became frustrated and the King took on the task of educating the young and restless prince himself.
